REV. J. COLLIE APPOINTED.

The appointment'of the Rev. John Collio, of Queenstown, to the chair of New Testament studies, Knox College, rendered vacant, by tho death of Professor R. E. Davies, was confirmed to day by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Collie received his secondary education at the Southland High School, Invercargill. and he took his B.A. degree at Otago University. Thereafter he tool; his M.A. degree, with double second-class honours in philosophy ancl political science. Mr. Collie has filled the position of assistant minister at East Tnieri and Knox Church, Dunedin, and minister of Crookslown, Invercargill, and Queenstown. His ministry at Crookston, of some 13 years, left a deep mark upon his people. He was successively exit examiner in apologetics, systematic theology and Greek New Testament. During the vacancy in the- chair of systematic theology aiid New Testament, caused by the death of Professor Dunlop, ho was appointed to supervise tho work of tho students in theology and examine them periodically.
