DIVORCED WOMAN'S DEATH.
VERDICT OF SUICIDE. A verdict of suicide was returned at the inquest on Alice Maude Thome, who was found dead in her room at 41, Khyber Pass Road, on February 11. Frederick William Thome, barrister and solicitor, of Auckland, identified the body as 'that of his wife, whom he divorced in 1923.
Elizabeth Readin, married, residing at 41, Khyber Pass Road, said that Mrs. Thorne lived in her house els Mrs. McCarthy, and witness was given to understand that the husband was at sea.
Dr. J. W. Maskell, who was called to the house by the previous witness, said that Mrs. Thorne was dead when he arrived. He noticed a bottle marked "poison" on the mantelpiece, and informed the police. Dr. D. N. W. Murray said that he had made a post-mortem examination and in his opinion death was due to poisoning. A verdict of suicide was returned-
