NEW ACCESS ROAD.
CLEVEDON-HUINUA ROUTE.
NOW PASSABLE FOR TRAFFIC.
An interesting trip was taken by the touring manager .of the Auckland Automobile Association during the week-end, when he inspected the new formation on tho access road which is being provided between Clevedon and Hunua. The new route turns off from the Wairoa Gorge Road and after leaving the metal new formation is encountered. Passing the top of the ridge, the road descends into a valley and runs alongside a small stream. Toward the southern end there is still some filling to be done, but cars can negotiato a small track round this unfinished work. The Black Falls Stream is crossed by a bridge, and it is then only about a mile to the turn-off on the hill above tho Hunua Falls. At the Black Falls Bridge willows overhang the stream and provide good shelter for picnic or camping parties. The new route is somewhat rough in places and during the week-end was a little soft after last Friday's thunderstorm. Portions of the unfinished road are still narrow and there are a number of gates fo bo opened where the new road has cut across country. By next summer, the road should be in good order and should provide a popular round trip.
