British "Wireless. RUGBY, Feb. 19. The Prime Minister, Mr. Mac Donald announced in the Houso of Commons to-day that the opening meeting of the Imperial Conference would be held in London on September 30. Asked what steps he proposed to take to ensure closer economic relationship between Britain and the Dominions and Colonies, Mr. Mac Donald said some aspects at least of tho problem would be discussed at the Imperial Conference. He hoped some definite conclusions would be reached. SCULLI N'S ANNOUNCEMENT. STRANGE CANADIAN COMMENT. (Received February CO. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 20. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, announced to-day that the conference is to be opened in London on September 30. A cablegram from Ottawa says the announcement made in Australia is not denied in the Canadian capital, but neither is it confirmed. There have been confidential communications on the subject. However, when a high official was questioned, his only reply was: " If the Government of Australia feels called upon to make the announcement, we do not."
