MAIN ROADS IN NORTH.
DEPUTATION ARRANGED.
NEED OF ALL-WEATHER ROUTE.
"The North has been neglected too long so far as an all-weather road is concerned," said Mr. M. Stewart, actingpresident of tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce, yesterday, when the council had before it a communication from the Whangarei chamber, urging support of steps to secure early completion of ihe gaps in the main roads of North Auckland.
The message from Whangarei was as follows: "The chamber and other representatives of North Auckland seek your co-operation in urging the Main Highways Board to accelerate its activities to ensure having an all-weather road open between Auckland and Kaitaia by the end of next summer, which we have been promised. The sectors particularly concerned are Kaiwaka to Topuni, Dome Valley, and the completion of the Mangakahia and Hukerenui-Whangarei Roads. Can you prevail on the board forthwith to commence the clay formation and deviation on the Kaiwaka-Topuni section, lo ensure realisation of Jong deferred hopes next summer? A deputation meets the Minister of Public Works at Whangarei on .March 3."
Mr. Stewart or the secretary, Dr. E. P Neale, will represent the Auckland cham ber in the deputation' to the Minister.
