POPULARITY OF FIXTURE

Several' thousand people were present at the Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society's show to-day, and considering thai weft weather was experienced throughout both days of the show, the patronage accorded the fixture is regarded as a high tribute to its popularity. The excellent quality in all branches of exhi bits evoked warm interest and admiration on the part of visitors, who came from many parts of the North Island.

Judging in the cattle section was concluded this morning, and this afternoon hunter and light horse ovents were held. The champion dairy bull at the show was judged to be R, 1). Duxfield's Shorthorn, Pine Farm Gem IV., and the champion dairy cow, A. Moreland and Sons Jersey, Beechland's Queen. The champion hunter—winner in the event for'the best all-round hunter, for the William Ferguson Massey Cup—was J. A. y McPherson's Waitaki. Other championship awards to-day were a.s follows: — "

TE AWAMUTU, Sunday. Splendid entries have been received for the Te Awamutu Agricultural. Pastoral and Horticultural Association's annual show, to. be held at Albert Park, Te Awamutir, on Wednesday. The last-minute rally by members of tho executive has resulted in almost a deluge of entries. The horse arid cattle sections have filled well and include some of tba best stock in the Waikato and Northern King Country. Tho 'sheep section will have a larger representation than ever before.

SPECIAL DAIRY COW CLASS.

TAT7RANGA, Saturday

One of,,tho best classes at Tauranga 'Agricultural Show was for dairy cows, any breed. ' Special prizes were donated by Messrs. Wood and the late A. W, Wood. The conditions were that the cows were to he judged on type and production, type to count up to 50 points and production up to 75 points. The lactation period was from June 1, 1929, to July 31, 1930.

The result, was as follows: —T. _W. Wardlaw's Biverdale Dolly V., 100 points, 1; H. G. Lever's Huia Heather, 89 points, 2; Commander Fell's Primrose, 83 points, 3; A. T. Woods' Matty, 79 points, 4. The ,winner is a dairy Shorthorn, a very fine type and a. credit- to the stud owned by Mr. Wardlaw, who was the leading cattle exhibitor at. all the shows in the Bay of Blenty circuit.
