PAYMENTS FOR FRUIT.

NEW WEEKLY ARRANGEMENT

An arrangement by which advances will be paid to fruitgrowers on store receipts from week to week instead of wlien shipments are despatched was recently completed between the New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board and the Bank of New Zealand. The change took effect as from the beginning of the fruit export season, which commenced in Auckland about a fortnight ago!

Under the old scheme 9s a casfi were withdrawn on shipment, and of these 4s were paid to the grower, the balance being held to cover expenses. In future advances will be paid out at the same rates, but on store receipts. The Fruitgrowers' Federation will prepare weekly returns of the amount of fruit in store, and will pay out in the following week. The chango should be welcomed by growers, for although it will mean slightly increased interest on overdrafts, they will receive their payments considerably earlier than previously.
