TOMATO PICKLE.
Slice, not too thinly, half; gallon of green tomatoes and six large onions. Cover with a quart of vinegar; add £lb. of treacle, small teaspoonful of cayenne, a heaped teaspoonful each of white pepper, salt, spice, cloves, mustard. Boil together for half an hour.
