The Taranaki Jockey Club's Autumn. Meeting opens to-day, and with good fields engaged the racing will bo invested with much interest.

Warm weather since Saturday and every indication of a fine day to-morrow should eee the track in good order, for the opening of .the Taranaki meeting. Practically aj,i .thevisiting horses have arrived, so ecratchings sliould bo fow and good quality fields will go to'the post. The' opening: event, the Waitara Hurdles, 'may flee Vinella and Borsalene dispute favcruritiara Vinella ..has "been going Vyell at Awapum Panorama, now trained at New Plymouth, is improymg. Royal Acre, from Haw era, is reported to be'sore. Post positions will count in the Ngamotu Juvenile Handicap. Acora, Valprc, Blito Paper have good weights, but they are brilliant beginners and should make Hard Words carry his 5.5. ■

. Betting should take a good range on the Flying Handicap. Paganelli, worked brilliantly this morning and Cimabuc satisfactorily. They may be troubled to concede the weight to Lady Quex and Sjlvermine, both of whom are in particularly good fettle.

•A moderate lot in the Moturoa Maiden Race may pcd support fcr Cyrello, Peg Black and Royal Visitor. The Cup field is mousing enthusiasm. There will be plenty of support for tlw top weights. The Swell, with It. Rccd up, may bo favourite for the Miuii High-weight. Manly, who is working well, Marjoram and Hopwood read like a solid opposition. Marjoram is also in the cup. Betting on the concluding event may bo divided between. To Uoiu and Huvaspot, 0.1-though though the local horses Anbridge, The Warden and Tent Call will have a following.
