EXPIRATION OF TERM. .DEPARTURE ON SATURDAY. [ey telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The Governor-General, Sir Charles. Fergusson, and Lady Alice Fergusson, will leave for England by the Rangitata, which is due to sail from Wellington on Saturday at 4 p.m. Captain Orr Ewing will accompany them.

For the information of those whose intention it may have been to send flowers to Their Excellencies' cabin on the vessel, it is stated that while such a compliment would be gratefully appreciated in normal circumstances, it would- be a real kindness on this occasion if the custom 4 was not followed, for.the reasoti..that for some time Her Excellency has been suffering from hay fever.... .

The illuminated address, anil- album of photographs which are to be presented to Sir Chhrles Fergusson . and .Lady Alice Fergusson by the Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup, on behalf of the people of Wellington and the surrounding boroughs and districts, at the civic farewell; gathering in the Town Hall to-morrow eveniiig, are fine examples of the engravers' and binders' art. The volume is bound in dark blue morocco, inlaid with green, red and gold and bears Sir Charles Fergusson's crest, a Scotch thistle in. gold, and the motto, "Dalcius ex Aspens." The. binding is the Work of Mr. J, Kinsell. The engraving aud bordering—the latter largely carried, out in- Maori motifs—is the work of Mr. W. R. Bock, f who has a long list of artistic works of this kind to his credit. •

Appended to : the address arc the signatures of the Mayors of Wellington, Lower Hutt, Petone, Eastbourne and Upper Hutt, the chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, the chairman of the Hutt and Makara County Councils, and the Johnsonville Town Board.

The sepia-toned photographs included in the volume are representative of the various districts, among them being panoramas of the city and harbour {lß4l. and 1929), and views of Lower Hutt,. Petone, the Botanical Gardens, .Oriental Bay, Day's Bay, Maidstone Pork, Barton's Bush, Upper Hutt, Titahi Bay, Johnsonvillo and the seascape from the top of Paekakariki Hill.

The addiress and photographs are contained in a finely carved kauri ebonyfinished casket,. The slightly convex lid has a unique, design of four tuataras with noses meeting in the centre, and tails running to the corners. The-sides, are carved in rich relief with symbolical designs and the Jour corners are ornamented with projecting bird-like heads. Tho casket is the work of a Rotorua craftsman. -
