Mr. W. J. Holdsworth left for 'Christchurch last evening to attend a meeting of the executfve of the Boy Scouts' Association. He will go to Wellington to attend a meeting of the Local Government Loans Board on Friday, and will return to Auckland on Saturday.
Mr. S. Gibbins, a principal of the firm of Messrs. Browne, Jackson and Company, cotton manufacturers, of Manchester, is in Auckland in the course of ft business tour of the Dominion. He is accompanied by Sir. R. M. Doughty, of Wellington, New Zealand agent for the firm, and they are ate the Gfand Hotel.
Mr. J". A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, was yesterday given four months' leave of absence to visit Halifax, Canada, where his son is lying seriously ill. Members of the board extended their deep sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Allum and expressed the hope that the patient wouJtl make.j.a speedy recovery.
