The semi-finals of the county championship resulted: Middlesex beat Gloucestershire by 16 points to 12 at Twickenham; Lancashire beat East Midlands by 50 points to 10 at Manchester. ASSOCIATION GAME. IRELAND BEATS WALES. (Received February 2, 5.25 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 1. In an Association football match at Belfast Ireland beat Wales by 7 goals to 0. SHEFFIELD SHIELD CRICKET. BRISBANE CROWD ANNOYED. (Received February 2, 5.35 p.m.) BRISBANE, Feb. 2. A Sheffield Shield cricket match between Victoria and Queensland was begun to-day at Brisbane. Queensland were dismissed in their first innings for 80 runs. Ironmonger took seven wickets for 35 runs, and A'Beckett three for 44. Victoria in their first innings lost three wickets for 82. (Ryder, not out, 35.) The wicket was sticky after rain.Ryder won the toss but sent the Queenslanders to the wickets. A display of temper by barrackers occurred toward the end of Queensland's innings when the Vic« torians fielded loosely in order to allow the " tail " to try to improve the score. Much hooting of the fieldsmen culminated in two of the batsmen deliberately thrown ing away their wickets. GRADE CRICKET AT SYDNEY. (Received February 2, 5.35 p.m.) SYDNEY. Feb. t. The Sydney grade cricket matches were continued yesterday. Batting for St.' George against Cumberland Bradman made 54 not out, and Fairfax, 40 not out. For University against Waverley, Hogg made 80 not out. Bowling for St. George Theak took five wickets for 40 runs, and Green five for 45. PROFESSIONAL BILLIARDS.
