HUNDREDS OF TONS OF ROCK. EXPRESS TRAINS DIVERTED. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Thursday. A heavy landslide fell down the face of the Manawatu Gorge about seven o'clock this morning and covered the railway line for a distance of about two chains. It completely blocked all traffic Clearance gangs were despatched from Falmerst'on North immediately to remove the mass, which comprised, hundreds of tons of rock and debris. The Wellington-Napier and Napier-Wellington expresses were diverted hy way of the Wairarapa line, and passengers on other trains were transhipped by motor-cars travelling between Woodville and Palmerston.
