HAY CROPS DRENCHED.
ILL-LUCK FOR FARMERS. Everywhere in Taranaki at the present time farmers are.- complaining' about, the wretched conditions that have prevailed for harvesting recently." There is hardly a hay crop which has not been drenched with rain lay on the ground between mowing and harvesting. In 'desperation some.-farmers have turned crops, originally meant hay, into ensilage. Some hay cropj which have not yet been mown owing to the oontinued rain showers, are now lying' flat on 'the -ground through becoming overripe or--over-burdened with water, and great difficulty will be* experienced in getting ' them cut as thoy'will, continually clog the mowers. Mown crops by'the score have been lying on the ground-in various parts of the province.
