MOUNT ALBERT AFFAIRS.

RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT.

The Mount Albert Borough Council met last evening, tho Mayor, Mr. L. E. Khodes, presiding. It was decided to accept the offer of Messrs. G. C. Munns and ,T, S. Fletcher, M.P.'s, to wait on tho Local Government Loans Board, and ask it to reconsider its decision not to sanction tho proposed unemployment loan of £SOOO, and also to arrange if necessary for a delegation from the council to interview tho Cabinet Unemployed Sub-Committee. Tho Mayor and Mr. 11. L. Knyes will go to Wellington and interview tho Prime Minister if necessary.

Tho following allocations were made of six days for street collections within tho borough:—St. John Ambulance Association, Hospital Auxiliary, Society for the Health of Woman and Children, Community Sunshine Associationone day for both the Victoria, League and tho Navy League, and one day for both the Society for the Protection of Women and Children and the Society for tho Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Tho building inspector reported that 16 permits, involving £SIBO, had been issued during the three wqeks ended Docember 11.
