AUCKLAND ACCIDENTS.
MAN LOSES FOUR FINGERS.
STRUCK BY PNEUMATIC HAMMER.
Severe injuries to the right hand were sustained by Mr. Claude Atherton, aged 32, married, as the result of being struck by a pneumatic hammer with which he was working at tho premises of Messrs. A. and G. Price, engineers, in King's Drive, yesterday morning. Mr. Atherton, who resides in Glen Avenue, Birkenhead, was taken by the St. John Ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where four fingers had to be amputated. Through being knocked down by a motor vehicle in Karangahape Road early last evening, Mr. Alfred Chappell,* of 3, West Street, Newton, sustained a fracture of the right arm. Mr. Chappell, who is married, aged 49, was later admitted to the Auckland Hospital.
