VISIT TO ROTORUA.
"GREATEST SIGHT. OF LIFE."
WONDERS OF WHAKAREWAREWA SPECIAL CONCERT BY MAORIS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 3 ItOTORUA, Sunday. A party of American tourists who reached Auckland by the Malolo this morning, arrived .it Rotorua at 3 o'clock this afternoon. Although the train left Auckland 40 minutes late it reached Rotorua on schedule 1 time. A fleet of 42 cars was waiting at the station under the control of the Rotorua Motor Company, and tho visitors were soon on the way to Whakarewarewa. There they were taken in charge by tho guides and conducted over the Maori reserve, where tliQy were shown the native method of cooking food over the steam holes. Tho tourists were then conducted over tho main sights. Here there were many expressions of wonder and delight. One visitor said it was tho groatest sight of his life. Tho great geyser Pohutu did not favour them with a display of its power.
After they returned- from Whakarewarewa tho tourists strolled through the Government gardens and inspected the main bath buildings. The party attended a special Maori concert arranged for them this evening. They were delighted with the various song? and choruses and the different poi dances and hakas. The programme for to-morrow includes a trip round the four lakes, including Tikjtere. The visitors will return at noon for lunch and leave by train for Auckland at 1 p.m.
