PRESENTATIONS.

Members of the police force and the Justice Department at Thames met at the week end to bid farewell to Sergeaut Rowell and Constable Devereaux, who are under notice of transfer, the farmer to Otahuhu and the latter to Onehunga. Reference was made to the cordiality and assistance which had characterised the dealings "between the police anc' the Justice Department. Constable Trisk presented Sergeant Rowell with a smoker's companion, and Constable Devereaux with a gold-mounted tobacco pouch. On the Thames Bowling Club's green 011 Saturday afternoon the president., Mr. F. McCullough, presented a clock and inkstand to Sergeant Rowell. A farewell social wau tendered to Mr. Hui Hawkins by members of the Opotiki Tennis Club, to mark his departure for Te Kuiti. For several years Mr. Hawkins ha 3 been a prominent tennis player arid also a Rugby" representative, having represented Bay of Plenty. Mr. N. BMurray, president or the' Tennis Club, expressed" regret at Mr. Hawkins* departure, and presented him with a travelling bag. Mr. P. F. Burton, president of tho Opotiki Rugby Union, presented him with a set of razors. A farewell social was tendered to-Mr. and Mrs. J. Kennody and family at Howick on Saturday Evening, when Whitford, Pakuranga and Buokland's Beach residents were also well represented. Mr. J. Crawford, chairman rjf the Town Board, presented Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy with a travelling rug and a cheque as parting gifts from the many friends with whom they had been associated during the- past eight years, during which period Mr. Kennedy had been stationed at Howick a!j constable for the. district. Mr.- Kennedy, in reply, stated he would carry with him to his new sphere of workpleasant memories of his long residence Howick. Constable Kennedy has been transferred to Thames South, and lea)ves to-morrow to take up his new duties. Constable J. M. Devereux, of Thames, has beep transferred to Howick,
