DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC CAREER

His Excellency the Governor-General has received official advice that His Majesty the King has been gracicmsly pleased to appoint the Right Honourable Lord Bledisloe, K.8.E., to be GovernorGeneral of New Zealand, in succession to General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, G,C.M.G., K.C.8., D.5.0., M.V.0., whose terra of office will expire early next year.
Lord Bledisloe, who performed notable services in Great Britain during the Great War in connection with the Ministry of Food, is an eminent agricultural authority. He was in control of the sugar rationing scheme during the latter part of the war, and for his services was created a baron in 1918. He was to have come to New Zealand next? year as the loader of a party of British farmers. Further particulars appear on page 15.
