THE MERRY MAIDEN.

It is a merry maiden, With spirits light as air; While others go heart-laden, And make tho most of care, • Sho trips along with laughter; Old Care may hobble after. A sunbeam straight from heaven Sho dances in my room. The gladdest thing e'er given To cheer a heart or homo; My stream of life may darkle, Sho makes the brightqr sparkle. Her smile it is the morning That turns the mist to pearls; All thought of sadness scorning, Sho shakos her sunny curls; And, with her merry glancing, Sho sets all hearts a-dancing. (—Gerald Masses
