SINGAPORE BASE.
CONTRIBUTORS' INTERESTS. NO CHANGE in air policy. (Received November 28, 9.35 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 27. The First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. r A. V. Alexander, stated in the House of Commons that, the late Government in 1927 agreed to a two years' delay in the completion of the Singapore naval base without consulting the Governments of the Dominions or Colonies. A British official wireless message says Mr. Alexander added that the contributions promised by the Malay States tothe cost of the base were conditional upofi the proposals remaining unaltered. The land was to revert to the Government of the Straits Settlements in the event of any alteration to the base and the Admiralty was to pay its market value.'
The contributions promised by the Governments of' New Zealand and Hongkong were subject to no express conditions except the implied condition that the money to be spent on the development of the base. /
The Prime Minister, Mr. Mac Donald, said the postponement of the work at tho Singapore, base would be limited to the naval base. There was no change in policy at the air base there.
