Special Prizes.—lt was not intended that the Competition should be open to Standard 1., but owing to the interest displayed by Parnell School and entries being received from Standard 1., Special Prizes have been awarded as follows— Ist Prize, £1: Raymond Withers. 2nd Prize, 10/-: George Hailwood. 3rd, Prize, 5/-: Elsie McLaren. A Special Prize of 5/- has also been awarded to Laurie Schischka. The Prize Money is being forwarded to the successful entrants. The judge reports that the writing was of very high standard, and owing to the great number of entries received, extreme difficulty was experienced in deciding the winners.
