At. a meeting of tho Waiomio Park Carnival Committee last evening, subcommittees were appointed to aid the candidature of the two queens, sports and business, who will figure in the carnival. It was also decided to initiate the carnival at a dance on December 5. Tho Thames School Committee has been advised that as a result of unemployment at Thames many parents are unable to afford the cost of stationery for children attending tho primary schools. The committee slates that in all such cases stationery and school requisites will be provided free of cost. As a result of sales from a produco stall the Women's National Reserve recently raised £3O, which has been forwarded to the Jubilee Institute for the Blind. . . Eulogistic reference to tho services of Sergeant Howell and Constable Devercaux who are under transfer to Otahuhu and Ilowick, respectively, was made by Mr E J. CI end 011 011 behalf ol members of the Thames Bar in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Mi.
