MOTOR CAMPING GROUND.

EROSION OF RIVER BANKS.

[BY TELEGRAPH —OWN COBRESPONDENT.] t OPOTIKI, Wednesday.

Discussion took place at a meeting of tho Opotiki Borough Council last evening on the question of installing electric cookers in the motorists' camping'ground, and as to what fees should be charged. It was decided that entry to the ground should be/ free, tho motion being carried on the casting voto of the Mayor.

Mr. Budd moved that the matter of installing cookers be left in the hands of the Finance Committee, with power to act within the limit of £IOO, and that fees be charged for use as suggested by the Power Board. This was agreed to.

A petition from a number of Woodlands settlers,, asking for a supply of ■water on the guarantee of £3 a year each, was' referred to tho Waterworks Committee for a report.

Attention,/was drawn to the erosion by the Waioeka River near the bridge, and also by the Otara River near the showground. 'lt was decided to make an early inspection.
