RAILWAY SEWAGE.

SHARE OF COST SOUGHT.

A suggestion that the Railway Department should be requested to make a contribution to the cost of pumping drainage from tho new railway station to tho No. 2 pumping station at tho foot of Constitution Hill was made by Mr. A. J. Entrican at a meeting of tho Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board last evening.

Mr. Entrican said that when the new railway station was built in Dunedin tho local Drainage Board approached the Railway Department with a request for some contribution toward tho cost of pumping drainage from the station, and obtained £l5O a year. It was only fair that as no rates wero being paid the department should contribute something toward the cost.

The matter was left to the Finance Committee to negotiate with the railway authorities.
