TASTE FOR CHEESE.

DEMANDS OF BRITAIN.

MILD SORTS POPULAR. LONDON. Nov. 26. The Empire Marketing Board, in reporting on the demand for cheese, says Gorgonzola holds sway in Central London, and represents one-third to one-half the total trade. But the staple trade of the mass of Londoners is New Zealand and Canadian Cheddar, white being preferred to coloured cheese.

Of the cheese imported into Britain 84 per cent, comes from the overseas Empire. The popular taste is for a mild cheese, but the demand for matured and stronger cheeses is increasing.
