RESPONSIBILITY OF PILOTS
LONDON, Nov. 22.
.. At the inquest concerning the deaths of ,'ihe victims of the disaster to the Luft J-lansa Company's aeroplane in Surrey, on November 6, the jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
Lieutenant-Commander Glen Kidston, .the sole survivor, in evidence, said a pilot who has the responsibility of deciding whether he should make the flight is placed in a very awkward position. He is expected to start, although he has misgivings, and feels he had better ' have a shot at it."
There ought to be an experienced official " to look at the weather report and to decide whether flights should be cancelled or delayed.
. The jury added a rider to the effect that » pilot ought to be relieved of the responsibility for starting on foggy mornings. It ■ suggested that the Air Ministry should ' examine Commander Ividston's suggestion.
