A young workman, Stelzer, who lives at Metriiann, a suburb of Dusseldorf, has been arrested on suspicion of being connected with the recent murders. Various articles of feminine apparel have been found in his rooms. His appearance tallies with the description of- the murderer given by Frau Teurer, who narrowly escaped death at the hands of the " Ripper." An earlier message said the affair had taken a new turn. The theory now is that the murderer is connected with a school. All the letters received from him were written on paper from an exercise book.
A resident of Berlin who formerly lived at Dusseldorf has strengthened this theory by his discovery that one of the murderer's letters was written in the form of an acrostic in which was indicated a girls' school at Dusseldorf. As a result detectives visited a well-known school where they are believed to have obtained definite clues. From these dramatic developments are expected at an early date.
An unemployed labourer was arrested last Tuesday in connection with the death of Maria Hahn, one of the victims of the unknown miscreant. A waitress at a restaurant identified him as having danced with Maria Hahn. The suspected man left a farm where he had been working on the day after the girl's death, without waiting for his wages.
