Miss Aroha Clifford returned to Christchurch from Wellington on Monday by aeroplane, piloted by Captain Mercer, the'" time taken being two hours 57 minutes.

During.her stay in Auckland, Miss McFie, who has been visiting Auckland in connection with the Toe H League of Women Helpers, was the guest of Mrs. W. W. Dove, of Victoria Avenue, Remuera.

A paying guest party, organised by Mrs. A. Burrell to raise money for painting St. Martin's Memorial Church, was held in the Waimankn Coronation Hall on Wednesday evening. Dancing and games, and vocal items by Messrs. E. Grant, Bains, and th 9 Rev. R. Hill Johnstone were much enjoyed. Mrs. Burrell and Mr. Grant supplied the music.

The Nicholson Park Lawn Tennis Club, formerly the Mount Eden Congregational Tennis Club, held its opening celebration at its new courts at Nicholson Park. The rrfany guests were welcomed by the president, Mr. F. G. Blotfc, who referred to the progress made by ths club in recent years and the courts were officially opened by Mrs. Blott. The Mayor, Mr. E. H. Potter, congratulated the club on their new home and the growth in membership.
