HAMILTON BOROUGH.
THE PARKING OF CARS. VICTORIA STREET PROBLEM. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Thursday. The Hamilton Borough Council mot. last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, presiding Application for the restoration of angle-parking in Victoria Street, was made by the Auckland Automobile Association. The association considered that the parking area available was inadequate for the growing demand. The Mayor said that on its previous trial the system had failed to provide extra parking space, and had narrowed considerably the passage for through traffic. Mr. C. Lafferty considered that it was necessary to provide a depot for service cars. On the motion of the Mayor it was decided to take no action in the matter. The engineer advised that, as the portion of the relief fund available for street work had been extended all work would soon cease. It was decided to ask the Railway Department to make repairs to the footbridge. On the recommendation of the engineer it was decided to purchase cold bitumen sprayer at a cost of £53. The general manager of railways, Mr. H. H. Sterling, wrote advising that he did not propose to alter the name of the station at Frankton.
