TOUR OF NORTH ISLAND. ENGAGEMENTS AT AUCKLAND. In the course of their farewell tour of tho North Island, the Governor-Gen-eral, Sir Charles Fergtisson, and Lady Alice Fergusson will arrive at Rotorua to-morrow from Gisbornc. They will spend three days there before coming to Auckland, where their stay is to-extend from Tuesday until Sunday of next week. Impressive ceremonies are to take place in Arawa Park, Rotorua, on Monday, which is the day of the Maori farewell. In addition, ail the school children, the Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, and members of similar organisations are to assemble.; His Excellency's engagements in Auckland include the dedication of the Cenotaph and Hall of Memories, and the opening of the Auckland War Memorial Museum. —■ . • This will not. be the final visit to Auckland. Their Excellencies will come here again on December' 29 and will stay till the evening of January 5. Before this they will have called at Hamilton on December 2, and Palmerston North on December 3, and have visited the, South Island, returning to Wellington on December 20. During the second week in January the South Island will be again visited, a day each being spent ,in Christchurch and Dunedini Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergjisson will be in Wellington from January 17 until February T, which is the Hlate of their departure from the Dominion. "A full day's programme, has been arranged in connection with the visit- of Their Excellencies to Hamilton on December 2. Their Excellencies will be met at 0.30 a.m. by the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. FoW, and the town clerk, Mr. )y. L. Waddel. They will then be driven ftaoagh Claudelands to Ruakura. A visit will be paid to the Waikato Hospital at 10.15 a.m., and at 12.45 a.m. His Excellency will be the pi est of the Hamilton Rotary Club at luncheon. A civic farewell will be tendered in Memorial Park at 2.30 p.m. Invitations have been sent to early settlers, returned soldiers and nurses, Girl Guides and others to attend. _ - ~ _ - An official dinner will ;be given in the evening and a smoke concert, organised by tlie Returned ■ Soldiers' Association, will be held in His Excellency's honour at the conclusion of the dinner; Her Excellency will be entertained in the Alexandra Hall by various Hamilton ladies' organisations. The .Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, and Lady Alice Fergusson arrived at Gisborne at one o'clock t6-day from Wairoa, and will remain here tin,til. tomorrow afternoon, when they will leave for Motu and Opotiki. The proceedings' throughout wore most' enthusiastic. A long procession of territorials, veterans, cadets, Boy Scouts ana Girl Guides, with the school children marched to the reserve, where a public meeting was held to bid the visitors farewell. There was a very largo attendance. Addresses were delivered by the Mayor, Sir. D. W. Coleman, and Mr. W. D. Lysnar, M.P., and His Excellency lepliod . ... . . During the' proceedings Sir Charles was presented with a valuable Maori mat on behalf of Lady Carroll. Later in the afternoon Her Excellency delivered an "address to the IiOO women;, and girls of the district at the Oper»| House. She urged parents to give their children a bias Co life on the land, and also spoke on the PluYikefc Society, Girl Guides, and the League of Mothers. At 7 p.m., His Excellency, as Grand ■Master of the New .Zealand Freemasons, attended a crowded function of the order, all constitutions being represented. At 8 p.m. a largely-attended civic reception and farewell was given at the Garrison Hall, where speeches were delivered by *Jie Mayor and the chairmen of local bodies.
