PT. CHEVALIER TRAM SECTIONS.
Sir, —In his reply to complaints from Oaehunga re tram fares, the chairman of the Transport Board mentions that the last section of that route is 147 chains, or nearly two miles, in length. There is certainly nothing for Onehuriga to complain of, compared with what the people of Point Chevalier have had imposed on them. The last section on the Point bus route is only about half-a-mi le, and the second to last about threequarters of a mile, making a total distance for two sections of 1£ miles. In all, there are six sections from Point Chevalier Beach to the city, the distance not being much greater than that from the city to Greenwood's Corner, which is four sections. In the arrangement of sections for the trams the board proposes making the last two sections 78 and 73 chains respectively, which will be among the shortest sections in the system. Evidently it is the board's intention that the people of Point Chevalier, especially when wishing to travel from one .place to another in their own district, should still be made to pay the loss incurred on the Onehunga and other long sections.
