NEW TIME-TABLE DETAILS.

NUMBER OF TRIPS INCREASED.

The result of a further conference with the Devonport Ferry Company on the subject of the new vehicular ferry time-table to operate from Novembor 15 was reported to the Northcote Borough Council last evening by the Mayor, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, and Mr. H. J. 0,. George. Tho report stated that the chairman, of directors, tho Hon. E. W. Alison, had acceded to the request that all trips possible should call at Northcote to and from Auckland. The first boat from Birkenhead at 6.15 a.m. was the only exception, this being scheduled for Auckland direct. All other trips would call at Northcote both ways until 7 p.m. from Auckland, which would bo direct to Birkenhead, leaving there at 7.25, calling s.t Northcote, and returning from Auckland as tho last trip on ordinary days at 8 p.m. On Friday and Saturday ovenings the service was extended to 11.15 from Auckland, with the exception of the 9.20 from Auckland, which would be to Northcote only, and back to Auckland.. On week-days there would be 15 trips from Northcote to Auckland,, and 14 on the return journey, with a further return trip between Northcote and Auckland on Friday and Saturday evenings. Birkenhead received 16 return tripis daily, and 19 return trips on Friday and Saturday. Readjustment of tho Sundjiy schedule had given 15 trips to Northcote and 13 to Birkenhead.

The Mayor said from the point of view of maintaining a service to both Northcote and Birkenhead vehicular landings the time-table as it mow stood was a big advance on the old, and the increased numbcir of trips would be appreciated. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to the company, and to express the desire that the steamer from Birkenhead should call at Northcote, and that this trip should also be extended to the Saturday service.
