GIRL AND HER BET. Marv Wafers, the 21-year-old danehier of a South Wiltshire farmer, won a wager in Salisbury in novel and p;cturesqofi circumstances. _ Three rears ago a mend of the .amity, Mr G- H. F. Smith, learned that it was Miss "Waters' custom to -wear her grandmother's wedding dress at her birthday party, and humorously challenged uer to wear it while walking through two of Salisbury's main streets on a market day f °Miss Waters rase to the occasion. Donnine the dress, which consisted of an earfv Victorian -white crinoline, with poke bonnet, and carrying a shopping basket and dainty purse to match, she was driven to the Close Gate in High Street, where she alighted and walked through the rrowded'High Street ana Silver Street to the ancient Podtry Cross, Mr. Smith handed her £5. Miss Waters followed .by aT ! admiring and amused crowd.
