TRAPPED UNDER GRATING.
SMALL BOY'S PREDICAMENT.
Small boys are. renowned for getting into strange predicaments. Two pai-sers-by in a New Plymouth street; the other day were surprised to hear faiuli, whimperings, and then to sea a ps.ir of • mall hands gripping from underneath onw of the heavy iron gratings which cover drain openings. The youngster, who was speedily extricated from his novel prison, explained that he had lilted tip the grating and got into the hold to recover iiomething that had fallen iff. The grating had fallen back into its place., and he had been unable to lift it. When askeel liow long he had been there, he replied tremulously, "A good while."
