BRITAIN'S PRIME MINISTERS.
GIFT FOR NEW ZEA'LAND.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL REPORTER.] "WELLINGTON, Thursday.
A collection of ir.?«o1 int portraits of Prime Ministers of Britain from Walpole to the present day is to be presented to the New Zealand Parliament by Mr. Ernest Makower, chairman of directors- of Messrs. Makower, Mcßealh and Company. A cablegram announcing ;he' gift has been received from the High Commissioner, Sir James Parr, by the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward. Sir James Parr states that the collection is identical with those Mr. Makower has made to the British Museum and to tho Australian Parliament Mr. Makower is now building up similar collections for presentation to Canada and South Africa. "I am forwarding the Collection forthwith," adds Sir James Parr. "I cannot speak in high enough tern,s of its interest and beauty. It will form a most valuable permanent addition tc the amenities of the House."
The Prime Minister hail, cabled the following reply: "Please oonvey to Mr. Makower an expression of the siucero thanks of the Government for his generous gift. I will make his n .ction known to the House and to the public generally."
