RELEASE FROM GAOL.
WOMAN IN AUSTRALIA. SENTENCE FOR SHOOTING. (Received) October 15. 12.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 14. Tho Now South Wales Cabinet to-day decided to release Mrs. Dorothy Mort from Long Bay gaol after having served nino years imprisonment for shooting Dr. Claude Tozer at her home at Killara. Tho case caused a great sensation in social circles years ajgo.
For three years past there has been an agitation for Mrs. Mort's .release, which is to take place immediately.
Dr. Claude John Toz.er, who resided at Lindficld, was Mrs. Mont's medical attendant. Friendly letters passed between the pair, and their friendship was said to have developed into lovo. Dr. Tozer had won distinction in the war and was a great atlilete, his patient was highly strung and neurotic. On December 21, 1920, Dr. Tozer's dead body with bullet wounds in the head and chest was found on the couch in the dining room at Mrs. Mont's house. It transpired at the trial that the doctor had informed his patient that he had decided to marry another woman. Mrs. Mont was found not guilty on the grounds of insanity and ordered to be detained in the mental institution.
