THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

MODERATE BUSINESS DONE. A moderate amount of business was transacted on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Government securities were in keener demand at higher levels. Inscribed Stocks, 1938, 4Jj> per cent., advanced 2s 6d to sell twice at £IOO 10s. Local body dobentures were firm, and Auckland Harbour Boards were dono at tlio current price, £lOl 10s. Now Zealand Breweries debentures improved 5d to sell at 28s 9d, equal to tho latest Christchurch rates.

Further activity in banks rovealed a continuance of tho firming tendency. New South Wales sold at £49, an advance of 10s on tho last local sale and of £1 on the last salo in Christchurch. Commercials of Australia had salo at tho current price, 28s lid, and more were offered at 295, buyers 28s lOd. Now Zealands improved one penny to sell at 60s 4d. Unions of Australia changed hands at £l4 14s, an increase of Is 6d on the last Auckland sale. Nationals of New Zealand were unchanged with a sale at £6 14s. Sellers of English, Scottish and Australians asked £8 2s, 6d more than on the previous day. In insurance New Zealands had sale at 45s lOd, one penny dearer, tho section remaining firm. In loan and agency Goldsbrough-Morts continued their upward trend to sell at 45s 9d, an advance of Is 9d on the last Auckland sale. There was again keen domand in the coal group. Tho new fully-paid issue of Renowns changed hands at 2s lOd, tho current prico. Pukemiros were offered at 745, an increase of 6d.

Thero was littlo change in tho gas section, Aucklands being sold at tho current, price, 24s 9d. In breweries New Zealands were sought at 87s, an increaso of 9d, sellers 90s, 2s firmer. Thero was littlo movement in tho miscellaneous section, Taranaki Oils remaining unchanged to sell at ss. CLOSING QUOTATIONS.
