ACCLIMATISATION WORK.

SOCIETY'S ACTIVITIES.

The council of tho Auckland Acclimatisation Society met last evening, the chairman, Mr. F. E. McKenzio, presiding. Tho secretary, Mr. C. M. Gordon, reported on the introduction of Asiatic quail, which had recently been liberated in the Lower Waikato in small numbers. Thoy flcw a somewhat zig-zag course, in the manner of snipe, and would bo a good sporting bird, difficult to shoot. It was not likely, however, that any further specimens of this breed would bo imported. Tho financial statement, showed a credit balance of £255, whilo £2OOO is on deposit as a reservo fund.
