VENDING MACHINES.
LICENCE FEE QUESTION.
It was stated at a meeting of the council of tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce this week that negotiations were in progress to introduce vending machines into the Dominion for the sale of handkerchiefs, soap, fruit, milk tokens, cigarettes, matches, etc. Tho view was expressed by one member that a licence fee should be paid for the use of tho machines, as they wero to all intents and purposes shops, and were usually placed in doorways or on small spaces of private property. It was decided to communicate with the Employers' Federation with a view to securing, further information.
