MEETING OF THE BOARD.
ONEHUNGA WHARF 'REPAIRS
Tlic Auckland Harbour Board mot yesterday, (ho chairman Mr. M.. 11. Wynyard, presiding. On tho recommendation of the Manukan Harbour Committee it was decided to approve tho expenditure of £BOO on necessary repairs to tho wooden eastern portion of tho Onehunga Wharf. Tho question of permanent reconstruction, according to schemes prepared by tho engineer at costs ranging from £6500 to £10,500, was deferred for six months. Tho board-in-commitloo was given power (o act regarding tho approval or otherwise of plans for tho reconstruction of tho Whan Bridge, and in determining the height above water of the western bridge on the waterfront road near Ilobson Point, Orakei. On tho recommendation of tho board-in-committee it was decided to give formal permission to tho Auckland City Council for tho construction of tho waterfront road from Govver's Point to St. Hcliors Bay. It was resolved to call tenders for the lease of tho sito and buildings of the city fish market for a term of ton years, subject to the existing tenancy. The Devonport 13orongh Council wrote agreeing to tho board's terms for the leaso to tho council of tho area known an Hat Isinnd, in Ngntaringa Bay, for the extension of tho council's recreation reserve. Tho letter stated that details of tho reclamation schetno would be forwarded at an early date. Tho Northcoto Borough Council, in a letter, thanked tho board for agreeing to leaso to it, at a * peppercorn rental, the area in Shoal Bay, known as tho 'luff Ci'ater tidal reserve, l'or recreation purposes. Tho council stated that when a scitemo of development was prepared tho board would bo askod to modify some of (lie conditions laid down. Following a ( complaint by the medical oflicor of health regarding the lack of a water supply at tho eastern berth, Nelson Wharf, for 'the washing of fish "boxes by fishermen, it was resolved that a separate lead and motor should be installed for tho uso of . tho Seino Not and Line Fishermen's Association, subject to a satisfactory guarantee for payment, of the charges. It was decided to disclaim any liability for alleged damage to two motor-lorries through striking the lip of the western vehicular ferry stage.
