Final stages have been reached in tho liquidation of Victorian Newspapers, Limited, which published tho Morning Post in Melbourne. All interim distribution of 4s a share has been made and tho liquidator expects to pay about 2s 6d a sharo in a final dividend. The loss to shareholders will lie approximately 13s 6cl on each £1 share of tho company's subscribed capital. A total of £190,000 was raised by calls. The failure to establish the Morning Post involved shareholders in a loss of approximately £123,500. SUPPLIES OF KAURI GUM. FIGURES FOR NINE MONTHS. An average amount of kauri gum of the usual moderate, quality was received into store by Auckland brokers during September. The supplies amounted to 323 tons, an increase of six tons as compared with the preceding month and of 35 tons as compared, with the corresponding period last year. LITTLE MOVEMENT IN POTATOES. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PHESS ASSOCIATION'.] CIIRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. There is very little movemont in the potato market. The Wingatui left Lyttelton 011 Saturday night with a cargo of 5600 sacks, rather more than expected, making, with the Timaru complement, a shipment of 7000 sacks. Tho lvurow will load this week at both ports, and is expected to take a fairly substantial quantity from Timaru. Potatoes for prompt delivery are quoted at £8 5s to £8 10s, f.o.b. s.i., and Octobers at £9 to £9 10s. Thp.ro is little disposition to trade iu this delivory. Farmers are being offered £6 15s to £7 a ton, on trucks. Thorn is much difference of opinion as to growers' holdings. It is generally believed that they are light in the central district, but a few fairly solid holders are still reported from the Ashburton district. Tho chaff market is not so firm, consequent 011 the heavy shipment, approximately 750 tons, arriving from Australia. Values, f.o.b. s.i., aro £6 5s to £6 10s, and, on trucks, to £4 10s.
