THE WESTERN WATERFRONT.
Sir, —The letter of your correspondent K. Gibson in Saturday's Hekald was yet another and, I hope, a timely reminder to the City Council that » direct outlet from the Ponsonby and Heme Bay waterfront is long overdue. There is no part of the whole waterfront on cither sido of the city where «i roadway is more necessary than at the very spot where the frightful ladderway now raises its ghastly skeleton-like form. Naval Reserve men and cadets, yachtsmen and many hundreds of workers and business people—men, women and even young girls —are all risking their Jlives .on the worst traffic arrangement in any town or city of this Dominion. And all because a few chains of road have not been formed. As one who has had to scale the ladder daily for five years, I hope that the council will face this matter, as respectfully suggested by your correspondent, and have the work commenced immediately. C. Sainit. 4, Dunedin Street, Ponsonby.
