AIR RACE STARTED.
SYDNEY TO PERTH.
COMPETITORS AT MELBOURNE. (Received September 30, 11.55 p.m.) SYDNEY. Sept. 30. Seventeen aeroplanes left Mascot aerodrome this morning on the first stage of the Sydney to Perth air race. It is to be flown in 12 stages, two a day. No stage is to be more than 250 miles.
All the fliers reached Melbourne to day.
