MARINE PARK SCHEME.
USE OF, MOTUIHI ISLAND. FINALITY NOT YET REACHED. [BT TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER,] ■WELLINGTON. Monday. "I am anxious to have the matter finalised, but it cannot be rushed," said the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, to-day, when asked what progress had been made in connection with the vesting of Motuihi Island in the Auckland City Council as a marine park. The Minister said he was conferring with tho Minister of Agriculture, tho Hon. G. W. Forbes, with a view to having the quarantine station for stock removed to the mainland. As far as the quarantining of passengers was concerned, no other suitable location had been settled on, and, in any case, in view of the present financial position, it was unlikely that tho expense of shifting the quarantine quarters to another cite, a transfer which would involve a considerable expenditure, would bo undertaken for some time. However, while there was no call on the quarantine station there was nothing in the way of the island being utilised for picnic purposes in the same way as was done last summer.
