ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.
SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR/ A bazaar organised by the National Reserve Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade was opened. by tlifl Mayoress, Mrs. A. D. Campbell, in tlifi old Orange Hall, Newton, yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Campbell spoke of the excellent work being done by the brigade in and around Auckland, and said that the public was beginning to realise the value of eucli an efficient and willing service. The work of the brigade was carried on in ail unobtrusive manner, but every year thousands of cases were attended by its officers, who rendered valuable service to oil classes of the community. The bazaar has been organised to raise funds to procure more uniforms and equipment for the members. The hall was decorated with streamers, and various * stalls were open to the public. The "stallholders were as follows:—Plain sewing, Mrs. E. Cammell arid Mrs. Bretnall; fancy goods, Miss M. Linton; mis- « cellaneous, Mrs. G. J. Mack ay; cakes and . sweets, Nurse H. Scolt and Miss M. Hay; produce, Private T. F. Patterson; afternoon tea, Mrs. R. Simmons antf Mrs. M.Sutcliff. Last evening an enjoyable musical programme was presented, and a novel attraction was the music provided by several Highland pipers. Tnß bazaar will be continued this afternoon and this evening, when another musical programme will be given.
