WRITTEN IN THE TOWER.

A literary discovery has been announced by Messrs. Ernest iienn under tho title " Advice to a Son," by tho ninth Karl of Northumberland, edited by Dr. G. P», Harrison. Tho manuscript is dated 1595 und 1009, and an old note assigned it, to Viscount Conway. It is now proved to have been written by the more famous Earl'of Northumberland, who was known as tho " Wizard Earl " —a brother-in-law of Mr. Lytton Slrachey's " Essex." Tho bulk of his " Advice " was written in tho Tower, where tho author was imprisoned by James I. at tho sarno timo as bis friend Raleigh.
