TALKING FILM WAR.
"O A now tactic in the war against tho talkie film lias been taken by the managers of tho principal theatres in Budapest. The actors' contracts for the autumn season contain a clause stipulating that in tho event of tho " talkies " coining to Budapest in any considerable number the theatros will be closed.
Although the managers have concocted tho clause as a protective measure, it is goneraly regarded as an example of "cut ting off one's nose to spite one's face." Tho closing of tho theatres, a serious matter for tho theatrical profession, is quite unlikely to stem tho invasion of the " talkio " when onco it has conquered the objections of the cinema managers and combines.
