Danish is quoted at 2065; choicest salted New Zealand at 182s to 184s; Australian, 176s to' 178s. Unsalted New Zealand is quoted at 180s; Australian, 176s to 178s. Cheese is firm. New Zealand, white and coloured, 93s to 945. REPORTS FROM MERCHANTS. FIRMNESS .OF THE MARKETS, Advices received by Auckland merchants yesterday indicated that 'he firmer tone of the London dairy produce market was being maintained. Joseph Nathan and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house. '1 rengrouse and Nathan, Limited, dated September 26: Butler, 182s. FRUIT AND PRODUCE PRICES. Good dessert and cooking apples met with a fair demand at the Auckland City Markets yesterday. First quality dessert pears also met with, a fair response, but many of' the lines were in wastv condition and sold at relatively low values. Lemons and I'oorman oranges remained dull of sale, while there was only a medium demand for grapes. Ripe repacked bananas were again scarce and dear. A shipment of Fiji bananas will arrive by the Tofua on Monday. Cook Island tomatoes were not. sought readily by buyers. A quantity of California!! grape fruit and Valencia oranges arrived by the Golden Cloud yesterday and will be offered to-day.

There was no decline in the large supplies of cabbage, cauliflower and swedes which have been available for some months in the field produce market. Good supplies of all other lines of vegetables were offered and met with a fair demand. There were no outstanding changes in the prices, which showed a slight easing tendency.

Heavy supplies of poultry were available in' the poultry section, there being ■a keen demand for all lines of table birds. The prices remained about the same as last week. The values for the six grades of hen and duck eggs remained unaltered. Lnrge supplies met with an improved demand. Average stocks ot farmers' butter sold at the stable rate of Is Id to Is 4d per lb. Local millers are not operating to ahy extent, being quite satisfied to continue working on their stocks. Nominal quotations are 5s 9d a bushel, sacks extra, on trucks at country sidings, for 'l'uscan, 6s for Hunters, and 6s 6d for velvet. With continued breaks in tho weather tho sowing of wheat in Otago is considerably lower than in previous years, and it is now getting too lale to plant. Tho oat market is again very quiet, and there is pressure to sell on the part of some holders who bought on a forwaid delivery basis. Offerings from growers are light The quotation on trucks at country sidings for A grade is 3s id. sacks extra,'and 2s lid for B grade Shipping values may he given at 3s 8d for A and | 3s 6d for B. . Tho decline in the price of potatoes has been arrested consequent on growers being disinclined to sell at prices offering. Only cood quality is inquired for. and these are saleable' at £8 a ton, sacks included, ex store. Supplies of chaff have been on the increase. and sales are difficult to make. The current price for best quality is £6, sacks extra, ex truck, but as the quantity coming in is inoro than sufficient for the demand, several lines have had to be placed in the stores. The seed markets remain unchanged. The retail demand is still good, and a fair quantity of seeds is being sent to the country districts for sowing, MELBOURNE PRODUCE. Australian and N.Z.
