PICTURES AND STORIES.
A certain Labour membor of the British House of Commons possesses what he describes as a " priceless collection " of old photographs. Thev were taken many years ago and show what some of the present and most prominent leaders of the Labour party looked iike ut the beginning of '-heir successful careers.
One of the photographs is of exceptional interest. It is of a Minister, who now looms largo in tho public eyo, taking his dinner. He is soatcd on what looks like a doorstep, with his wife beside him. She has just brought her husband's meal in n basin wrapped in a cloth in orthodox fashion, and has seated herself by her husband's side to watch him enjoying her cooking. Both husband and wife have since, dined many times with tho highest in the land. They would much like to possess that old reminder of their early days and their struggle in life, but the owner of the photograph says that he would not part with it for £204
